Hey guys…this is for anyone that can answer it. My winter project is to completely redo my boat. There are several parts that I think I am going to powder coat rather than paint or have to go buy new in chrome. My question is about the zinc primer. Is this primer absolutely necessary, especially considering that I will be in saltwater ALL the time. And, are there any special considerations or “tricks” to using this?
The parts that I’m considering doing are the foot, the railing, the window frames around the cockpit, the cleats, and some assorted hardware. I’m thinking it will be a considerable amount cheaper for me to coat these pieces rather than replacing them………………………….Any thoughts??
