I have been fixing the rusted floor supports on my car and have recently applied rust converter, then RE to the bottom of a portion of the floor. I will now be bending a new piece of metal to form around the inside rocker and help support the edge of the floor. Since this piece needs to be welded in place, can I spray weld through primer over the RE where I anticipate the weld bead to be, position the new piece of metal in place and then weld?
I didn’t know whether or not I have to grind down the RE and RC where the weld bead would be or not. I have never used weld through primer, so I am not sure if it really helps create the spark of the weld or not.
