i had some SBC valve covers coated gloss black. i’m pleased with them except for the fact that the coater didn’t mask off the undersides of them and didn’t mask off the oil fill cap threads. i paid for the work this afternoon and didn’t see that the oil fill cap threads weren’t taped off and/or plugged.
does anyone forsee problems w/ the underside of these valve covers being coated and installing them on a running motor? is there a way for my coater to easily remove the powder from the valve cover oil fill cap threads without having to completely do it over? also, since the bottoms of the valve covers are coated as well, will the powder make it difficult for the valve covers to seal onto the heads, or will the gasket take care of that? thank you all!
