The previous owner of a 54 Roadmaster thought the engine and engine compartment needed painting. So he painted it…with a paintbrush. Now it has serious brush marks all over. I plan to remove all the parts mounted to the fender wells and repaint it. I hope to be able to use lacquer thinner and steelwool to smooth out the brush marks and will likely strip cown to the metal in some areas. Once I get it smooth and to the metal I plan to use Under Hood Black on it. I’ve used this before and it appears to spray on mighty thin. This I’m afraid would make it hard to cover up an rough or brush marked paint. Should I use a black primer such as Eastwoods Self Etching Black Primer prior to the Under Hood Black.
    Will greatly appreciate any help.
