I’m about to order some chrome to do the throttle and transmission controls on our boat. They were origionally chrome plated, but have gotten corroded over the years. Most of the stuff around it is Stainless steel.

Which chrome will give me the truest chrome look? I’ve read the reflective chrome will look great uncleared, but after the clear it tends to look duller. Is this true?

Also I want to do the water pipes on my engine. I don’t want a highly reflective chrome look, but more of a bright silver or maybe a lightly polished aluminum look. What do you think the reflective chrome with a satin topcoat would look like?
