I sprayed SS wimbledon white. Got a little orange peel and some dust nibs. Used da with 1000, then 1500, then 2000 wet. Then used 3M compounds – coarse, intermediate and then fine.
I did this on one door.
Compared to the other door (not cut/buffed yet) the shine is no where near as good.
I had used Meguiars soft buff foam pads (in 3 levels of firmness with appropriate compounds). I tried a wool pad and a rotary to see if I could get more gloss. Didn’t make it any better.
Is it impossible to get the same level of gloss on a SS urethane after you’ve wet sanded and buffed? I think this may be the case. It seems that the gloss rises to the surface with a good wet coat, and you can’t get that back by cutting and buffing.
