I plan on restoring a trunk pan. The trunk pan has a combination of rusty pitted areas (no holes through the floor) and areas that still have the factory paint (GM late 60’s). I do not want to media blast this area as I will be left with swiss cheese. At this point I have sanded and wire brushed the entire area and I am left with a combination of surface rust, bare metal and original paint. What is the best method to treat and refinish this area? After treating the rust I plan on filling and smoothing the pits and then refinishing with a factory spatter paint.
