I’m in the process of refinishing some cast aluminum wheels. I was going to go down the rattle-can route, but I’m now leaning toward investing in a PC gun.
My question is how do I repair some minor curb damage on the wheels before powder coating? I take it I can’t use spot putty like I was going to do with paint, correct?
There is also some oxidation/corrosion in some places. Does this need to be completely removed? What’s the best process?
Do I need to “etch” the wheels before applying the powder? I saw something about putting them in some sort of chemical bath.
