I am getting ready to power coat the timing cover, primary cover, and transmission cover on my 2004 Black Harley Softail standard. It has the factory silver powder coat on it now. I was thinking of powder coating those covers in the gloss black, for some contrast to the silver, with Chrome accents of the derby and inspection covers.
My question is does the factory powder coat have to be removed? Also I’ve had one person to be careful of the gloss black as, it has a tendency to show swirl marks, or smudge.
