I went through the old posts and didn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I can’t believe it hasn’t been discussed to death, but here goes:
I found a nice, old stock cast iron intake manifold (Pontiac) that I’ll be putting on my detailed engine. It’s already painted correct Pontiac Blue, but it’s an older paint job. Also, there’s light surface rust on the mounting plate for the carb. There’s also spider webs and loose dirt inside the runners.
Can I just clean up the intake with brake parts cleaner or something (for inside), lightly sand the surface rust on the carb mounting surface with emery, and the put a fresh coat of spray paint over the current? (there’s no chipping or flaking).
(I can email a picture if that helps)
TIA for your input.
