I have a set of rare 66 Nova L79 Dog Dish hubcaps. They dont reproduce them. They are brass that is chrome plated from the factory. They have some dents and splits in them that I am going to repair. The problem is in order to take out the dents and then smooth them out along with fixing the cracks is going to require sanding off the chrome. I was thinking about sandblasting them and fixing them and trying to powder coat them with the chrome two stage process. To have these complelty redone professionally is going to cost around 500 dollars. So my question is can I powdercoat brass? If so how smooth should the brass be or is just a sandblast finish ok? Thanks for your time.
