I am restoring a 1925 White Motor Company doubledecker opentop bus. The rails and handrails are copper plated 1″ nominal brass pipe. I can get the copper off with a wire wheel in an angle head grinder but need to remove or at least soften the “brush” marks.
Since the rails have 11 30″ stanchions, about 60 feet of pipe, two hand rails by the steps and a 4′ 270 degree loop at the back it is not practicle to take the work to the tool.
With this much brass to polish what tool(s) do you recommend? Any information on compounds, wheels, etc would be appreciated.
