Hi All. I’m new to the posting forums. I am trying to polish the aluminum fuel tanks on a Peterbuilt truck. I am using basically a right angle hand held 7 inch buffer. I purchased the hard compound “bricks” to use and I’m pretty sure i’m using the wrong compund here. When I try to apply the compound to my buffer wheel, it eventually tears them up. What little I do manage to get on the tanks does work and it looks great. What am I doing wrong here? Is there a softer compound that I need to be applying so I won’t tear up my bonnets? I don’t have a lot of experience in doing this and I’m guessing the brick style compound is primarily used on a floor or bench mounted buffer wheel unit?
