Polished the forks on my Bonneville America last month:

Used Eastwood paint stripper to remove the grey paint
    Wet sandpaper – 400, 600, 800, 1000
Had to use a 3M rayloc wheel to remove some pitting around the lugs (Triumph aluminum stinks)
Sisal wheel – Emory (the Eastwood counter guy said I wouldn’t need the sisal, but he apparently hasn’t seen the pitted Triumph metal)
    Cloth Wheel – Tripoli
    Cloth Wheel – White Rouge
Finished with Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish.
    I used a Craftsman 6″ buffer with Eastwood stand/materials.
I’m pleased with the finish. The stainless shrouds didn’t come out as chrome-like as I would have liked. I didn’t prep them with sandpaper, would that have given me a better finish OR do I need a different buffing compound for the stainless?
