I am new to this forum (and new to powder coating). I just received my Eastwood HotCoat kit today, and am excited to try it out.
Just wanted to get a little information on parts preparation before coating. Should all paint be removed before coating (ie: should I put tha part in an acid bath, or something like that), or is it sufficiant to sand as much of the paint as possible off, then coat it. Specifically, I am planning to Hotcoat a coulpe of valve covers, and some pulleys for an old engine I am restoring. The remaining paint will not chip or flake off, and the parts are sanded very smooth… the only option to get them cleaner would be a paint stripper.
Thanks for any information you can provide.
