I have a Harley Davidson with a few chrome parts I want to fininsh in black. I have some chrome exhaust pipes that I would like to paint with header black paint. I have tried bead blasting them with glass bead but I am having adhesion problems. I’m considering trying Aluminum Oxide. Will this work better? I also have other misc., chrome parts (headlight, fender struts) that I want to powder coat. These parts are chromed aluminum. I have purchased a hot coat kit and wish to do this myself. What is the best way to prep these parts for powder coating? Should I blast these with aluminum oxide as well? Will this be to agressive for the aluminum base metal? Do I need to blast at all?
