    Hello:

I’m beginning the restoration of a horse drawn carriage and was looking for help in determining a practical painting system for treating the vehicle’s metal work. All of the metal work is iron (some cast; most forged – think blacksmith), is rusty, and has experienced quite a bit of surface pitting. Most of the parts are relatively small fasteners, braces, support brackets, etc. The more substantial parts include a solid axle and leaf springs.

I’m anticipating the need for rust removal, priming, filling (deep rust pits), and top coating. Given the nature of the vehicle’s construction, some of the larger parts will be subject to flexing (e.g. leaf springs). I’d appreciate your suggestions on compatible products to accomplish each of these tasks.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
