My bottle of Oxisolv arrived today, and I applied it to my rusty hood hinges. I kept the rusty areas moist, as directed. One one hinge (mainly in some recessed areas) the rust is gone and there appears to be gray metal. Other areas have spots of gray, while the balance is still rusty. On the other hinge, it looks the same. Small splotches of zinc phosphate (I guess) are on the metal, and the rest seems to have a waxy cover on it.
Did I do something wrong, or is this normal? Oh, the temp was around 60 degrees when I was using the product. I wiped everything with Pre before I quit for the night. Hopefully this will stop the Oxisolv so I won’t have eaten away hinges in the morning.
