I am a new member of this forum. I read the emails faithfully that Eastwood sends out and I have bought Kevin’s DVD series and watched that. I am new to painting. I have a ’51 Chevy pickup 5 window that I want to paint. It has a decent paint job- deep green metalflake. I want to apply a different color. Also the previous owner had applied topcoat to the cab only. He also didn’t smooth out the body well. My questions as of now are;
#1. Do I need to strip the paint off or can I scuff the paint and apply the color I want?
#2. To smooth out the mild depressions in the body do I have to go to bare metal/primer to apply body-filler?
#3. Is it better to apply primer over old color ( is there a certain color of primer that will work better with the color I chose?) the deep blue that Ford/mazda is using on their new models?
Thanks for any help!!!
