I have a 22 year old aluminum valve cover – lots of pits.
I sandblasted it first and then used a scotchbrite wheel to dislodge other junk.

I decided to try out a sisal wheel with black emery compound to cut out some of the pits. It worked well, but slow, sooo….

I decided to wet sand with 120 grit paper to lower the pits out completely. The cover has lots of lettering and its very hard to get the pits out (almost impossible, although I havent tried my hardest yet).

Is there any way too REALLY get the pits out between the letters without spending 20 hours or so doing it by hand?

I have a new appreciation for the costs of sending parts out to be polished.
