This seems to be the type of forum I’ve been looking for, for a long time. I’ve been toying with the prospect of painting my motorcycle (again) with Auto-air paints. I’ve done some tank graphics on the present paint job using my airbrush and waterborne acrylics and now I’m ready to do the whole bike in this media.
I’m going to do a black with gold flake, then clearcoat, then an over paint accent with the airbrush, ending up with a hard urethane clear to finish it off. The gold flake I’ve seen is basically a clear with the flake. It seems to me that if I use any flat black undercoat, such as black primer, it should be sufficent to act as the basecoat. Am I right?
This may be the start of many a thread, because I’m always building, fabricating and painting something for my bike or someone else’s.
