On the way home from a gun show a few weekends ago a 1971 F100 SWB Flareside caught my eye. It was for sale next to another a slightly newer Ford LWB with 4wd.
The f100 was what I wanted in a truck. Straight six, manual transmission, no power steering, no power brakes, just a plain truck. Well plain and rusty.
Still I paid an OK price for it and drove it home on Monday.
Put some new, narrow tires on it and factory style wheels and the manual steering was not so bad. Repaired the exhaust.
Now comes the hard part. Actually working on it. Well I did remove the old a/c from it and I did a carb rebuild on the Carter YFA. Removed an ugly grill guard. So it is already better than when I bought it.
Have worked on a couple of old Harley Davidson’s before and as school kid I worked on my first car a 1968 Grand Torino.
