strange subject:
i was telling a friend the other day that i am going to be getting into powder coating sometime next year. he asked if i’d be willing to powder coat an old trumpet of his. it is pretty much flawless, no dents, and is of course brass. i told him that if he disassembled it (took out the “valves” or whatever they are and also remove the spit valves) i would of course try. i also explained that the cured powder could possibly change the tone of the horn (possibly dull the normally sharp, crisp sound of the trumpet). do any of you guys have any insights on this?
