Hope I posted this question in the correct category. Is masonry sand ($4 for 90lbs) a effective media for cleaning metal with light corrosion and old paint vs. aluminum oxide which is easily 10-15x more. The sand is kiln dried and graded. I will be using a supplied air respirator and the dust is not a issue. I have heard of people using sand but not sure of it’s effectiveness. I’m sure it’s because it is so inexpensive. I’m sure one could not use sand in a cabinet because of the dust.
The answer may be obvious but I am new to media blasting.
