I am attempting to powdercoat an aluminum heat shield. It had a goldish color to it that I sanded off, bringing it down to bare silver aluminum. Preheated the part all the way to 400 degrees and powder still won’t stick.
I’ve been having smaller problems with adhesion lately, but nothing this bad. Could it be the humidity, as the tip of the gun has powder buildup, and when I touch the tip to the grounding clip, I often get no spark. Could my gun (hot coat, not pro) be going bad? The red light is on but it does click some inside the box.
