To get back to my real project cars I first need to fix my wife’s Montero. The gas tank is clean on the inside and i can braze the rusted vent pipe connection. (I fill tanks with water to purge before using a flame!) However the top of the tank has a lot of rust that will soon be pin holes into the tank I’m afraid. wire brushing or media blasting will probably bring out the perforations. The inside is still OK (for now). Does anyone have any good ideas about coating the outside of the tank? Any thoughts on tank sealer on the outside? There is a plastic tray inside it had to have been installed before the 2 halves were joined so I am reluctant to do an inside coating. Thanks for any suggestions.
