Living in the mid-west as I do (Michigan), I’m plagued by corrosion on my factory forged aluminum wheels. Usually the corrosion occurs around the lead weights (bi-metallic corrosion?) which eats through the clearcoat and corrods the aluminum. At this point I have not tried anythink other than over-the-counter wheel cleaners. My guess is that the tires first need to be removed. After that i’m not sure how to proceed. I’ve looked at several Eastwood products but am unsure whether they will remove the extensive corrosion. Understand that I really like these wheels and would like to keep them. Afterall… that’s what restoration is all about. Right?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
