    Hi Folks,

I had 220v added in the garage yesterday. The electrician put in a four-wire setup (dryer outlet) because the oven has four wires coming out of it. However, my compressor has three. He said to make sure that I make the white hot, and use the ground (sorry, memory is not giving me exact verbiage). However, on the pigtail I purchased, Black and Red are the vertical spades (hot?), Green the ground, and White the neutral (L-shaped pole). If I hook the black and white into the compressor as hot, and use the ground, then that will mean I won’t be using one of the vertical spades. Is that the right way to do it?

Sorry, electrical is NOT my strong suit, so thanks for any help!
