I recently purchased Eastwoods Epoxy and Polyester Primer Surfacer with Evercoat Lightweight body filler to do a decent daily driver paint job on my ’66 mustang coupe. I have not painted a car before and I appreciate any feedback or info you could give me on the prep process. Here is what I plan, please correct my steps if there is a discrepancy.

    1) Sand entire car with 40 grit and apply the Evercoat filler on bare metal low/high spots (dents) and sand again with 40 grit to feather
    2) spray 2 coats of Eastwood Epoxy Primer
    3) spray 2 coats of Eastwoods Polyester Primer Surfacer
    4) block sand with 120 grit, followed by 220 grit and 320 grit

I plan on using Ditzlers base/clear paint after that.

How long after spraying the Epoxy do you have to wait before top-coating with Polyester Primer? ..and does the Epoxy need to be sanded prior to top coating with the Polyester Primer?

    Thank you
