Basic question. What constitutes a dual-action sander? I’ve heard that a true DA sander is capable of both straight rotary action (for fast sanding/material-removal) and random orbital action (for finder work), hence the name. Is this true?
The reason I’m asking is that all the “dual-action” sanders I’ve seen in stores seem to only be set up for orbital, and of the ones I’ve seen online, including Eastwood’s site, they never mention a straight rotary capability. So, are the common “dual-action” sanders really dual action, or just random-orbit finish sanders?
