Hi all, new here but not to coating. My main experience is automatic booth with manual touchup. Now I find myself working with an all manual process. Question is What range of thickness can an average experienced coater hold on the parts? The line uses a variety of colors from various manufacturers and there are many parts configurations (read job shop). Is it reasonable to shoot for a 2 mil thickness on all parts? As it stands we are all over the place, from 2-6 mils, and you know that on some colors thickness effects the final appearance. I know that it won’t be the easiest thing to do but there are good reasons to keep a consistent lower coating thickness.
