I will be refinishing the chassis on my tow vehicle. I need to rebuild the front suspension. While I have all the suspension pieces off, I want to paint the front of the chassis. Then another weekend I will tackle the middle of the frame. Finally, when I redo the rear suspension I will work on that area of the frame. Here are my questions:

How do I prevent lap marks between the different frame sections?

On areas where there is a chassis ground, it seems best to leave the bare metal. Eventually, that bare metal will rust. How do you prevent the rust from creeping under the surrounding areas and flaking the paint off?
