I have a 57 Chevy Belair with 283 power pack heads four barrel. I would like to put a Carter AFB four barrel on this engine. The four holes in the original manafold are all the same size. The four holes in the AFB are front two smaller and back two larger. The bolt pattern is correct for the carb to sit on the manafold. Will the four barrel throttle plates be restriced from opening because of the size difference?? Should I put a spacer plate between the carb and manafold? Any and all information will be appreicated about this subject.
Also have an original Rochester 4 jet and a Carter like the ones that came out on these engines in 1957. Which carb will give the most torke and horsepower? The Carter AFB, Rochester 4 jet, or the original type Carter?
