I am in the middle of a project and as I sat here daydreaming about it, it occurred to me that on the backside of a motorcycle fender, I am painting a black base over a black sealer, then clearing it.
You won’t be able to see the surface when the bike is together, the sunlight won’t shine on it… so what is the purpose of putting the base on at all?
I’m using HOK primer, sealer, and clear. The black would be Auto Air (I’ve already done the headlight bucket and mounts with it.).
Am I just being lazy here???
Here are a couple parts I’ve already finished. I haven’t picked up a gun in 20 years, and it’s my first time with an HVLP unit – a Finex 100 in this case. Bad lighting (florescent) and nothing’s been polished, but you get the idea:
