In September 2008, my wife saw a car sitting in someones yard with a for sale sign on it. Later that afternoon, we went to look at it, and it turned out to be a rust free, very original survivor 1964 Ford Falcon Futura with a 260 V-8 and Ford-O-Matic 2 speed auto trans, with 91,000 miles.
After a test drive, she decided she had to have it! (smile)
The gentleman selling the car was asking $1300 for it. I told him we wanted the Falcon, but 13 was not a good number to start a relationship with a vehicle, and he agreed. (rolleyes)
$1200 later, we drove the car home! (grin)
The car had to have a name, and I suggested “Buttercup” (due to the color) and my wife liked it.
A good cleaning, a little polish and wax, and a few odds and ends, and by November, my wife and Buttercup already had their first car show trophy! (big grin!)
