I’ve struggled to blend in small repair areas in the vehicles I’ve been working on. I know it is common practice to shoot the entire panel, but when it is a 3″ spot that needs a shot of paint and clear, it’s hard to justify prepping an entire hood or door. Every time I try and fade in new paint, I’m spraying partially over primer and partially over the existing clear coat. Then as I sand, the repair area gets larger and larger! Any tricks on this?
To my dismay, I’ve also discovered how incredibly fragile the duplicolor paint shop lacquer is. Every bird dropping eats right through my shiny buffed clear coat. Now I’ve got a handful of areas to feather in more clear.
