I’m replacing the gas tank on my 64 Chevy. I’m trying to get a consensus on how to treat the exterior and whether or not I should treat the interior. The new tank is unpainted and has an oily film, probably from the stamping operation. It appears to be zinc coated. I’d like the exterior to have a silver color and was going to avoid using an undercoating type material. I was thinking of treating it with an epoxy primer and then paint with an appropriate color. As to the inside, I get conflicting stories, some say treat it, others say no.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.
