This was literally a granny car, but with a straight 6 and column shifted 3 speed manual with no PS, PB or A/C. It’s a base model that started life in Washigton state with the original owner who moved to New Jersey along the way. She kept all documentation until she sold it to an employee at an Allstate insurance office who I bought the car from.
Everything is original except for the 2 doors and passenger fender. D/S quarter needed some patch work and the trunk jamb under the window was rotted so that had to be replaced. The Nova was in overall decent shape but I had to do a little more metalwork than I anticipated.
The 2nd spraying of primer-surfacer is about to be sanded off as I found too many low/high spots. I will P-S one more time to see how straight she is.
Here are some before pics. More to come if I ever find a disc that has at least half of the build pics to date.
The Plan: Not sure which way to go re. paint color: choices so far are a dark blue, Lemans blue, metallic black (like Chrysler Brilliant Black) or 66-67 GM Regal Red. I have a 10×20 car tent that will probably become a paint booth if funds run low.
I have a truck 350 3970010 long block, an M21 4 speed and a 3.08 8.5″ rear in the garage ready to go. Paint is the primary goal, drivetrain may be a winter project.
